The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre’s new expansion has officially opened!
The $205 million dollar project was carried out by NH Architecture and Woods Bagot, and was fully funded by the 2015-16 Victorian State Budget - overall a fantastic win for the Melbourne events and tourism industry.
The expansion adds 20,000 square metres, increasing MCEC’s total size to 70,000 square metres, heralding the venue as Australia’s largest convention and exhibition space.
Minister for Tourism and Major Events, The Hon. John Eren MP states: “Victoria is the national leader when it comes to major business events and the new MCEC expansion will help us attract even more visitors to our state.”
New facilities include The Goldfields Theatre - a 9,000 square metre multi-purpose event space with a retractable 1,000 seat theatre and new exhibition halls. There is also new meeting rooms, an outdoor terrace, banquet space and the Goldfields Cafe and Bar.
ShadowAV can't wait to work on our next event at this innovative and progressive venue.
